This Week in Student Ministry: Summer Prayer

We’ve had a GREAT start to our summer, whether that be as a result of God working through Send Camp, Vacation Bible School, or our normal Sunday and Wednesday activities! As we look forward to the rest of the summer, please continue to pray. Pray for a few things specifically:

Pray for our remaining Summer Events: Student Leadership University (June 26-30) and our Cleveland Mission Trip (July 25-August 1). Both trips have been intentionally planned to springboard our students into greater positions of influence.

Pray for our Summer Series. Throughout the summer, on Wednesday nights, we’re inviting different communicators to talk about how to grow in your relationship with God. As the summer is a time of rest, pray that our students would not rest from but in their with God.

Pray for key Mission Opportunities. Our schedule for the summer is intentionally thin. This gives our groups opportunities to serve together. We’re also hosting Mystery Mission Trips and other opportunities, like Metro Ministries and One Meal (Feeding the Homeless).

Pray for the New School Year. As we continue on in the summer, be strategic about praying for the upcoming school year. Pray for our students to be in a position to make a difference and continue to pray for strategic leaders in our ministry as we gear up for the fall/ winter.

This Week in Student Ministry: Prayer Service

“In these days he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God.” Luke 6:12

“…praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints.” Ephesians 6:18

“Pray without ceasing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17

“Prayer—though it is often draining, even an agony—is in the long term the greatest source of power that is possible.” (Tim Keller, Prayer, 140)

This Friday, our Student Ministry will be hosting an all-night prayer service (9PM-6AM). Join us throughout the night or come when you can.

We will pray for our students, ministries, and community. If you have any special prayer requests, please let us know that we can also pray for what’s going on in your life.

This Week in Student Ministry: Prayer Update (Jan. 2016)

As we begin a new year, please consider having a great impact on our ministry and community by committing to pray for Redemption Students. Here are a few ways to keep us in your prayers.

Pray for our students. Pray specifically for the growth of our students, both spiritually and missionally. Use one of Paul’s prayers from the New Testament as a guide (e.g. Ephesians 3:14-19; Philippians 1:9-11). Pray for any students that you know by name and their families.

Pray for our leaders. Our leaders spend significant time with students and in most cases, set the level of maturity in their groups/ relationships. Pray for their development as leaders, their leadership at home, and their own walk with Jesus.

Pray for key events. All of our events are planned for spiritual development and community impact. Look for specific events in the First Edition (handout on Sunday mornings). Pray also for the following events.

  • Advance 2016, February 19-21
  • Summer “Send” Camp, June 2-5
  • Student Leadership University, June 26-30
  • Mission: Cleveland, July 25-August 1

Pray for our community impact. We seek to make a difference in students, families, and our community. Pray for opportunities to share the love of Jesus with local schools, sports teams, and other areas of impact.

A Personal Revival Plan for January 2016

The New Year brings new excitement about opportunities for personal growth. As you make resolutions for growth, don’t forget about being intentional in the areas that truly matter most, those that last for eternity.

Over the month of January our Student Ministry is going to be intentional about personal revival, gathering for prayer, and the constant pointing to eternal things.

Stay attentive to prayer updates, but here are two immediate applications:

  1. This Wednesday, December 30th, we will gather from 6:30-8:00PM to pray for our ministry/ year.
  2. Ryan Gossett, one of our interns, edited a document from Alvin Reid meant to be an aid to personal revival. This document is a 31-day devotional for the month of January. Our leaders and students are encouraged to use this document as a means to personal growth.

This Week in Student Ministry: Prayer Update

* Please note that our parents will be receiving an information packet regarding key dates and savings for 2016. The brochure will arrive this week and will also be available on Sunday at the Welcome Desk and Student Center.

Please continue to be in prayer for our students, families, leaders, and community. One of the greatest encouragements for me is to hear, “I’m praying for you” or “I’m praying for our students.” What can you be praying for?

Pray that our students would continue to grow spiritually. Pray for students at all levels (those that are Spiritually Dead, Infants, Children, Young Adults, and Spiritual Parents). Pray specifically for work through our Student Groups (Sunday mornings) and Wednesday nights. Currently we’re in a series moving through the Gospel of John.

Pray for the spiritual nutrition of our leaders. As leaders give of themselves, pray for moments of encouragement through relationships, devotionals and the church. Pray specifically for our leadership gathering on Oct. 11.

Pray for community impact. We’ve had a lot of opportunities to be involved with the community through serving and relationships. Our goal is to show the love of Jesus through these encounters and to see people and communities redeemed. Pray specifically for MOB weekend (October 16-18), where our students serve at Saraland High School, for the Spartan Race, and elsewhere.

“For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”

This Week in Student Ministry: September Prayer Update

It was announced on Sunday that First Baptist North Mobile will now be Redemption Church.

It’s a new name and a new vision, but the same God, who cherishes the prayers of His people. Please continue to be faithful in praying for our leaders, students, programming, and community impact. Consider adding these items to your prayer list:

Back to School Bash: Our Bash is one of the most fun nights of the year. We’ll have free food, giveaways, inflatables, a mechanical bull, and more! The most important part of this night centers on the sharing of the gospel. Pray for life-change!

Community Impact: Over the course of the month, we’ll have numerous opportunities to bless our local schools and community. We’ll be tailgating, hosting 5th quarters on Friday nights, and spending significant time on school campuses. Pray that we are a light to students who need the grace of God.

#Jesus – Beginning on September 16th, on Wednesday nights, we’ll do a study on the Gospel of John. John wrote his gospel that people would believe that Jesus is the Son of God, the Savior. Pray for life change as we learn what it looks like to follow Jesus!

This Week in Student Ministry: Prayers for July

Stay connected with what’s happening in our Student Ministry this summer. Encourage your student(s) to participate in events throughout July and continue to pray for what God is doing in and through us. Pray that God continues to grow His kingdom through our ministry as He has up to this point.

Pray specifically for upcoming events:

This Wednesday, July 1st: Lock-Out in and around Mobile

This Wednesday, in our Student Worship service, we’re looking at the establishment of the church in the New Testament. We will be in Mark 3 and looking particularly at the response of the disciples to Jesus’ calling. Our middle and high school students will leave for a night in Mobile following the service. They will bowl, skate, eat, and more!

July 7th: Mystery Mission Trip

Mystery Mission Trips are opportunities for students to engage our community missionary. They sign up to participate without knowing what they’ll be doing for the day. This particular day will be both fun and wet!

July 8th: Chill Yogurt

One of our summer interns, Hunter Lee, will continue our series on the church from the book of Acts. Following the service, we will travel to Chill Yogurt. This, along with our other after service parties, are great opportunities for students to invite their friends and hear the gospel.

July 15th: Crossover

Rising 7th graders will attend Student Worship on the 15th. It’s here that the students will be introduced to our ministry for the first time. Afterwards, we will head to a local bowling alley for a time of forming relationships with leaders and older students in our ministry.

July 22nd: Open Gym Night following Student Worship

July 24-31: Cleveland Mission Trip

High School students are traveling to Cleveland to partner with Gateway Heights Church. This will be the fourth year participating with Gateway Heights for our Student Ministry and this year, they will get to partner with their new church plant, Redemption Hill Church. There will still be Student Worship on the 29th.

We have a busy month ahead of us and we need prayer to make these events both relational and evangelistic. Pray that lives are changed in the month of July!
