It’s happening tomorrow night. Volunteers, make sure you know what time to arrive and where you’ll be placed. Further instructions will be given tomorrow night.

This Week in Student Ministry: 2016 Calendar



2016 is going to be a great year and we want your student(s) to participate. Please take a look at some of our key dates and make it a priority for them to attend!

Registrations are counted when the cost of the event is covered. All summer events are to be paid in full by April 27th. Scholarships are also available.


SlideEvent: Advance 2016
Grades: 7-12
Dates: February 19-21

Short Description: Advance is all about connecting middle school and high school students to God’s mission for their lives. It begins with the gospel and the news that Jesus is Savior. Throughout the weekend students will participate in large group worship sessions (with other area churches), in home small groups, service projects, and more!

Cost: $25

Grades: 7-12

Dates: June 2-5

Short Description: Send Camp will take our students to West Mobile. This week will have a summer camp feel (worship, recreation, activities), but with the added element of a mission trip (service projects, outreach). This will definitely be the best week of the summer!

Cost: $200


Event: Student Leadership University 101
Grades: Completed 8th – 12th
Dates: June 26 – 30

Short Description: Understanding that Leadership Begins at the Feet of Jesus, students will learn the practical, relational, and life skills to change the way they think, dream, and lead. Learn more on the SLU website.

Cost: $625

Grades: Completed 9th – 12th
Dates: July 25 – Aug. 1

Short Description: Partnering with Zach Weihrauch and Ben Shelton, our students will serve Gateway Heights Church and Redemption East Cleveland through service and outreach. Our intention is to help make Jesus famous by bringing the gospel through our words and actions.

Cost: $500

This Week in Student Ministry: Celebrating Christmas!

We’re celebrating Christmas this week at Redemption Students! Encourage your students to participate in BOTH of our end of the year celebrations:

Wednesday, December 16th: The BEST CHRISTMAS EVER

Our last Student Worship service of the year will conclude our series about the Best Christmas Ever. We’re playing games, eating great snacks, giving away prizes, and more. Service begins at 6:30PM!


Thursday, December 17th: The JOY DANCE

Students will volunteer as greeters, servers, hosts, and more for a dance celebrating those with special needs. The dance will begin at 6:00PM, but all of our student volunteers will arrive at 5:00 for placement and direction.

This Week in Student Ministry: The BEST Christmas Ever!


I love serving you in the discipleship of your child(ren). One of the ways I get to do that is by reinforcing key principles being taught in the home.

This Wednesday, we will continue a series on our necessary response to the message of Christmas. We’re looking at Philippians 2:1-18 and calling it the BEST CHRISTMAS EVER.

Here’s how our teaching breaks down in December:

December 17th: JOY DANCE
December 23rd and 30th: NO SERVICE

Look at Philippians 2 and talk to your children about their expectations for Christmas. This month, consider serving somewhere as a family!

This Week in Student Ministry: Joy Dance

We’re so excited to announce the Joy Dance again this December!

The Joy Dance is December 17th, 6:00-8:00PM (registration at 5:30).

What is it? This event is a special night of full-scale fun for people with disabilities, ages 12 and up. Formally attired guests will arrive on the red carpet and be escorted by volunteers to a night filled with Joy. There will be dinner, pictures, gifts and an evening of dancing the night away with friends.  Our goal is to bless our community by  providing a joyful evening for our guests.There is no cost to attend.

Our students will be volunteers for the event and will attend in formal attire. Student volunteers will arrive at 5:00PM for prayer and positioning. Specific roles can be requested and our team will try to accommodate those requests! Opportunities are listed below.

Prayer Team – Pray for the needs leading up to the event and during the event.

Set Up/ Decorations – Assist the Dance Coordinator in any and all set up and decoration needs.

Tag Team  – As guest pull into the parking lot the tag team will have pre-printed list of small sticky labels that include the names of all the pre-registered guests. As the guest arrives, the tag team finds the appropriate label and places it on the shoulder of the guest while they are in the vehicle waiting in line. This serves two purposes. The first is to announce the guest’s arrival. The second is to assist with registration.

Parking Lot/Security – Needs to monitor parking and roam parking lot and inside of event for security issues.

Paparazzi – You will line the Red Carpet and use a smart phone with a flash to take pictures and clap for the guests.

Greeters – An announcer will announce the guests as they arrive. You will greet the guest as they exit the vehicles (open the door if possible) and connect them with a host/hostess as soon as they enter.

Volunteer/Participant Registration – Register and check in all volunteers

Host/Hostess – You will be paired with a “special guest”. You will escort the guest to every area of the dance and stray with them through the evening.

Photographer – You will take photo and video of the whole event. A second photographer will be needed for the photo booth.

Medical Team – is required to mingle amongst the guest and be available should any emergency medical situations arise. You will be given an earpiece at the time or arrival. A medical background is preferred for this area of service.

Food Servers  – You will assist in food set up and keeping buffet style trays full.

MC – Announce the guests as they arrive and are handed off to the greeters. Announce and run the dancing portion (possibly lead line dances) Announce Prom King & Queen. 

Chaperones – Mingle and Monitor dancing events. Just be prepared to help in any way.

Family Caregiver Hospitality Suite Host/Hostess – Mingle with and care for caregiver in the Hospitality suite.

Clean Up – Stay after the dance and help clean up and reset Student Center.
